Minutes from WCDF Annual General Assembly Meeting 2024

  1. The proposal to award 3 points to a bye instead of 4 was accepted.
  2. The proposal to allow a maximum number of two federations per country was accepted.
  3. The official time limit was changed to 45 minutes with a 20-second increment, and recording the move is now mandatory until the end of the game.
  4. A notion was accepted to award the title of Girls World Champion only if three or more girls attend the Youth section.
  5. A notion to increase the membership fees to €150 was rejected.
  6. Nadiya Chyzhevska was voted into the executive board as player's representative.
  7. All other members were re-elected.
  8. Mr. Pawlicki, president of the FMJD, generously offered that the WCDF could use the website and work in the committees of the FMJD to utilize their facilities, such as awarding titles, provided the WCDF names persons who work with those committees.
  9. The question of how to arrange tie breakers in future QT's and WC's was not resolved. It was proposed to ask the rules committee to make a proposal by the next GA.

It was agreed that if play-offs are held, an additional day cannot be afforded. Instead, play-offs should be conducted with reduced rapid time controls to occur between the end of the round and the closing ceremony.

The idea to have play-offs regardless of tie breakers for players equal in first place was considered with skepticism due to scheduling problems and additional costs, but no final vote was made.

  10. The winners of the World Cup were honored.

Nadiya Chyzhevska was awarded the title of IM.

  11. A minute of silence was held for Charles Walker, and Richard gave a report on the ICHF.
  12. Several tournaments were announced:
    • A general Draughts Festival in Barbados.
    • Discussion on the possibility of a Team World Cup.
  13. Carlo Bordini urged for regular European Championships and continental championships on other continents if possible.
