J.-M. Ndjofang wins the 10th Edition of The Blitz of Wattrelos

2005, for the 10th edition of The Blitz of Wattrelos, NDJOFANG joined KOUASSI in the club of the three times winner!


The "Blitz" of Wattrelos 2005, named the 10th edition, were held on October 30, 2005 in the Jean-Jaurès room in Wattrelos. In this exceptional year, 114 players were present for a great festival of draughts or for "The Rolland Garros of draughts" like compared it the mayor of Wattrelos, Dominique BAERT. During this great festival of the draughts which as each year started with the speech of welcome of Gilbert CHARLES, tireless organizer, the level of play reached the enormous prowesses with a spectacular final between Souleymane KEITA from Senegal and Jean-Marc NDJOFANG from Cameroun, both GMI. Anyway Jean-Marc NDJOFANG kept his title after the second game of the finale (the first one ended in a draw) by gaining on a very beautiful combination. So he gains the title for the 3rd consecutive year. The semi-finalists were Oscar LOGNON from France, considered as the 3rd French player of the moment, and Tommy MBONGO, young player from Cameroun and 3rd World Junior in 2003. This year the first one won a bill of 150ˆ, the second one 120ˆ, the third one 80ˆ and the fourth one 50ˆ.

In second category, the victory returned to David HUREL, player of the La Chapelle d’Armentières, he devanced Nicolas STORME, young Belgian player from Heule and George ROMERA, Parisian player. Among Young Amateurs, the victory returned in Bryan KESTELOOT, Belgian young person, he devanced Mickaël CARTON from Glisy and Keita DESMET. Finally to the Adult Amateurs, the victory returned to the sympathetic Gerard DUPLOUY, member of the organizing committee of the "Blitz", he devanced Yann SECQ from Lille, and Christian NORET.
This exceptional year was also the opportunity for Gilbert CHARLES to pay homage to the municipality of Wattrelos and its mayor, Domenica BAERT, to the FFJD, the LRNP, the Regional Council of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais, the General Council of North to the companies DAMART, E LECLERC, to the companies DOUTRELON (computers) and Alex-echo (animation). Moreover, he did not forgot the famous members of the organizing committee who during a reception right before the semi-finals received some presents. This team is composed by Madam and Mr CHARLES, Madam and Mr VANHOUTE, Madam and Mr DUPLOUY, Madam and Mr STOCK, Madam and Mr DONNER, Madam and Mr HILD, Madam and Mr VERHELST, Madam and Mr DAUTREMEPUIS, Madam and Mr BRIFFAUT, of Mr EECKOUTE, of Mr DUSART, Mrs FINEZ and Mrs MEUNIER. With these people let us add also all the young players of the club who do not hesitate to help for installing and arranging the room. And finally he quite naturally thanked the referees, Ada DORGELO (Netherlands), Daniel MULLIER (Belgium) and Jacky BRUIANT (France).



In conclusion it was an enormous festival of the draughts and filmed by France 3, and which will remain like a great event damist and a spearhead of the promotion of the draughts in France as the many messages of sympathy and joy provided from participants.
10 editions passed but it is not an end in itself because Wattrelos begin to prepare the 11th edition, the 5th of November 2005 yet!
