ISER KOUPERMAN PASSED AWAY.

Just yesterday I was informed that 7 times World Champion Iser Kouperman passed away.
Iser was born in Ukraine at that time Soviet Union.
He won his first World Championship title in 1958 defeating Marcel Deslauriers from Canada. In the years to come;1959-1961-1963-1965 and 1967 his main competitor was Wiatscheslaw Shchoholyev who became 2 times world Champion in 1960 and 1964.
In 1967 Kouperman defeated Andreiko. After that time a new group of players dominated draughts with names as Andreiko, Sijbrands and Wiersma.
Surprising was that in 1974 once again Iser became World Champion.
In 1977 Iser travelled trough Italy to the USA.
In Brookline (MA) close to Boston Iser started a new life. I know that the last years
where not so easy due to a lack of finances.
Iser has won many tournaments and Russian titles.
I wish the family strength in these difficult days and draught is loosing a great player and sometimes a funny man.
