Main decisions of the GA in Wageningen

The General Assembly on September 23, 2013 in Wageningen Netherlands has confirmed the nomination of 5 members of honour: Ton Sijbrands, Alexei Chizhov, Yury Chertok, Henk Fokkink and Ndongo Fall as eminent member of honour.

The General assembly has decided to introduce the FMJD promotion prize for persons with great merits for the promotion of Draughts and decided to give this prize this first time to Tjalling Goedemoed for creating his series of draughts books in English language “Course on Draughts” which can be downloaded freely from the FMJD website. Part of this course has already been translated in Chinese, French and Spanish.

The General Assembly has re-elected as President Harry Otten, as General Secretary Frank Teer and as Tournament Director Jacek Pawlicki.
Harmen Wiersma will be the new representative of the players (men) in the FMJD Board instead of world Champion Alexander Georgiev.

The General Assembly has decided to stop with the plus and minus draws in the World Championships on proposal of the Belarus federation.
After a long discussion the proposal of the Belarus federation to stop with using the Swiss system on rating was not voted for so not accepted .

The General Assembly decided to unify the rating lists for men and women.

The General Assembly voted positively for the creation of a new section Turkish Draughts.

Because too much time was necessary for some proposals and complaints of Belarus and to discuss differences of opinion about the section 64 the General Assembly did not have time to vote about a large number of proposals from the Executive Board , the tournament director and the Technical committee. Probably the Executive Board will issue a vote by e-mail among the FMJD member federations.
